Custom Taper Orange Midrange Shaper w/Center Detent

RG500D - Custom Taper "Orange" Midrange Shaper w/ Center Detent

Improve your tone with this simple passive addition. This specialized combination of capacitors, resistors, and an inductor produces a truly useful enhancement to any guitar or bass without requiring active electronics.

Quality Components & Construction

• Exclusive CTS Potentiometer: Professionally wired on a brand new 500K split-shaft pot made exclusively for Rothstein Guitars by CTS.
• Custom Taper: Features a hybrid audio/linear taper perfected through extensive R&D for the smoothest possible response.
• Center Detent: Includes a physical "click" at the neutral 5 position so you can always find your home base by feel.

The Important Question: What does it sound like?

This control provides a versatile range of tones depending on where you set the dial:

• Settings 0-4 (The Scoop): As you rotate counterclockwise, midrange frequencies are pulled out while leaving highs and lows intact, creating a transparent, "acoustic-like" clarity perfect for funky rhythms.
• Setting 5 (Neutral): The control is completely transparent and has no effect on your tone.
• Settings 6-10 (The Honk): Provides a thicker, more aggressive sound with a classic "mid-range honk" that helps you cut through a mix.

Compatibility & Installation

• Universal Passive Design: Designed for ANY passive guitar circuit regardless of make or model.
• Pickup Pairing: Optimized for single-coil pickups. It works with humbuckers as well, though the 6-10 range is more subtle since humbuckers are already naturally thick.
• Simple Installation: A very easy 2-wire installation (White to Hot, Black to Ground).
