MTB - Mid-Scoop / Tone Switch (for Bass)
By popular demand, we have voiced a passive mid-shaper specifically for the bass guitar. This dual-function control allows you to toggle between a traditional tone circuit and a specialized mid-scoop, providing massive tonal flexibility without the need for active electronics.
The Important Question: What does it sound like?
The MTB provides two distinct modes of operation:
- Switch DOWN (Standard Tone): Functions as a traditional high-cut tone control.
- Switch UP (The Scoop): Becomes a specialized mid-scoop. Rotating the knob counterclockwise (towards 0) pulls out mids to emphasize clarity. On a bass, this setting is legendary for slapping and popping.
SOUND CLIP: This clip features the MTB used in a Jazz Bass recorded by Tony Senatore. The same 2-bar slap phrase is played 3 times:
- First in full treble mode.
- Second in full bass mode (Switch DOWN, knob at approx. 1).
- Third in Mid-Cut mode (Switch UP, knob at approx. 1). Note how the slaps and pops really jump out in this setting.
Specifications & Installation

- Compatibility: Works with any passive pickup system (Jazz Bass, P-Bass, etc.).
- Simple Installation: A very straightforward installation requiring a soldering iron. Simply connect the white wire to your signal and the black wire to ground[cite: 73, 75, 78].
