WHAT IS RGP?
The Rothstein RGP is a fully customizable wiring system including an ulta-high quality active EQ circuit designed for bass guitars with passive pickups.
WHY IS IT SPECIAL?
- It is the only active system for bass with an option for a series/parallel switch. The series/parallel switch enables you to switch between the classic j-bass sound featuring both pickup in parallel, and the more punchy p-bass sound featuring both pickups in series.
- Each unit is custom made to order and therefore, fully customizable - you can pick from a variety of options.
- It is made in the USA by Rothstein Guitars, and constructed from only the highest quality components.
WHAT DOES IT SOUND LIKE?
It will add lots of chacter and versatility to your bass arsenal. Listen to the following sound samples.
ABOUT THE SAMPLES: All of these samples were recorded using a Jazz bass with Nordstrand NJ4 pickups direct into a Pro Tools HD system with no additional enhancements. Absolutely no compressors, studio pramps, amp simulators, etc were used.........nothing. Just bass direct into Pro Tools, so you will hear the true nature of the RGP preamp.

DOES IT REQUIRE A BATTERY?
RGP is an active system, so it requires the use of a 9V battery. A stereo jack is included so the 9 volt battery is switched on automatically when a mono jack is plugged into the socket (therefore saving battery life).
WILL IT MOUNT IN AN INSTRUMENT WITH A THICK TOP?
No. The threaded portion of the 100K center detent pots measures 1/4" long and will mount to either a control plate, pickguard or a thin wood top. You may substitute any 100K linear taper pots, so if you can acquire appropriate alternate pots you may use them.
WHAT ARE THE FEATURES OF THE PREAMP?
It is a 2 band preamp. Two pots provide you with separate control over bass and treble frequencies. Each pot provides up to 12 db variable treble and bass boost/cut. Both pots come with a center detent and yield a "flat" response when in the center detent position. Rotating the pot clockwise will provide a boost, and rotating the pot counterclockwise will cut as per the following frequencies:
- Bass Frequencies: +/ - 12 db starting @ 25 Hz to 100 Hz.
- Treble Frequencies: +/ - 12 db centered around 3 KHz but has significant boost To 10 KHz.
WHAT ARE THE AVAILABLE CONFIGURATIONS?
